The Vat and Fiddle
Rebecca’s favourite part of her job is showing someone a picture of their own brain. Our brains are our central processing units that tick away behind our eyes, processing everything our senses tell us about the world. Functional MRI is a technique that has been developed to help us understand how we understand the world around us.
Rebecca will give an overview of fMRI and other functional brain imaging techniques she uses. She will talk about how we design experiments to use these techniques to try and answer fundamental questions about how the brain works, and she’ll talk a bit about her research around how the hearing system works, and what happens when it doesn’t.
